World of Warcraft Death Knight Macros

Death Knight Macros!

Today we’ve got a frigid surprise for you death knights! Why you ask? Because Drakesong from mmo-champions.com has shared us a list of death knight macros to reduce clicking! Drakesong also emailed us here at Ability Powered with detailed macro knowledge for you!

“I would like to help you, and share my most recent macros that may help players with some sort of disability. I believe (actually I guess) that one of the main problems disabled players face when playing WoW is the great amount of spells, some of them very situational (such as interrupts, counter CCs, CC, cooldowns, etc). The bloated spells may be a problem when you have to be fast and press all the buttons in order to perform well. Thinking about it, I designed a few Blood DK macros, some of them that may be used by other specs, others may require a few tweaks, that allow you to cast all spells by pressing least buttons possible. Note that they may not be used in the most desired situations, but I think it’s better to cast a spell in a not optimal scenario, than not cast it at all.
First of all, the best tip I can give, and this goes to all classes and all specs, is, when choosing your talents, always pick the ones that don’t need to be activated (passive spells). For DKs, it goes like this: Roiling Blood, Purgatory, Chilblains (or Death’s advance), Any (death pact recommended), Runic corruption.
Keep in mind that the macros must chance according to your racial spells, trinkets and talents you pick.”

We’ll cover how to make macros in an upcoming video for gamers who aren’t sure how, but for the folks who know the general process check these out! Thanks again, Drakesong!

Death Attack Macro

[Death Grip Attack + Horn of Winter] = Cast death grip and start attacking the target (normally, if you are not attacking, casting death grip won’t make you do so). Also, it will cast horn of winter, because let’s face it, it’s very easy to lose the track on a 5 minute buff

#showtooltip Death Grip
/cast Death Grip
/cast Horn of Winter
/startattack

Crowd Control (CC) Macro

[Crowd Control] – Only if you have the Asphyxiate talent:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=30 Asphyxiate, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice, Chains of Ice

Auto Healing Macro

[Auto Heal] = Instant auto heal, used for minor injuries:

#showtooltip
/cast Rune Tap
/use Healthstone

Cancel CC Macro

[Cancel CC] = It will cancel most of the CC effects on you (if you are undead, add Will of the Forsaken amongst those lines):

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=120 Desecrated Ground, Lichborne, Malevolent Gladiator’s Medallion of Cruelty

Interruption Macro

[Interrupt] = Used if you don’t have the Asphyxiate talent (add Arcane Torrent only if you are a Blood Elf):

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=15 Mind Freeze, Arcane Torrent, Strangulate

Striking Death Macro

[Death Strike] = Places debuffs, then Death Strike. It resets when you change target, or after 30 seconds (time for the debuffs to expire). My original macro doesn’t reset after 30 seconds. Instead, it resets when I press the “shift” key. However, I believe a disabled gamer might have problems with this:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=target/30 Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike, Death Strike

Blood Rune Macro

[Rune Strike + Blood tap] = Obviously, only used if you have the Blood Tap talent. Also, it automatically casts Empowered Rune Weapon (a buff that I used to forget a lot):

#showtooltip Rune Strike
/cast Rune Strike
/cast Empower Rune Weapon
/cast Blood Tap
/cast Arcane Torrent

Plague Strike Macro

#showtooltip Plague Strike
/startattack
/cast Dancing Rune Weapon
/cast Mind Freeze
/cast Plague Strike

Death Strike Macro

#showtooltip Death Strike
/startattack
/cast Dancing Rune Weapon
/cast Mind Freeze
/cast Death Strike

Heart Strike Macro

#showtooltip Heart Strike
/startattack
/cast Dancing Rune Weapon
/cast Mind Freeze
/cast Heart Strike

Rune Strike Macro

#showtooltip Rune Strike
/startattack
/use Tyrannical Gladiator’s Badge of Victory
/cast Empower Rune Weapon
/cast Rune Strike
/cast Blood Tap
/cast Arcane Torrent

Oh Crap Macro

[Oh crap button] = Used when the health is low and you are been attacked:
#showtooltip conversion
/cast Vampiric Blood
/use Healthstone
/cast Bone Shield
/cast Anti-Magic Shell
/cast Icebound Fortitude
/cast Raise Dead
/cast Death Pact

Installing Addons in World of Warcraft

Short seen in Stormwind with "Installing Addons" overlayed as a title. This week’s Short Guide will focus on installing addons to lower your mouse usage.  I know a lot of veteran players already know how to install and activate their addons, so I won’t to be including the installation process in the video.  However, I want to make sure any newer players that might be confused about addons can get them installed. For this, I am including a how to install addons below.  There are actually a few different ways to do this so without further ado…

Installing Curse Client

I have to say after playing this game for six years now installing the curse client is by far the simplest and easiest way to install addons, and also keep them updated.  To get the curse client, visit their website and click which platform you need.

The Curse client webpage which is one way to install addons in World of Warcraft. The Curse client is free to download and free to use.  I have personally used this for the last four years and have never had any problems.  After you download the setup file, you’ll be prompted to enter your curse account.  If you don’t have one, creating one is quick and free. After you have your account, enter your login information and connect.

In the client itself you can see a list of your installed addons.  Any that you need to update will be in bold black letters.

Curse client seen in the World of Warcraft "My Addons" tab required for installing addons. From here you can also install new addons by swapping tabs.  There are many categories you can look through for your needs, or you can search for specific addons.

Curse client seen on the "Get More Addons" tab required for World of Warcraft installing addons. When you find what you want just hit install.  Easy, eh?  You can turn on your newly installed addons in World of Warcraft to use them.  Don’t worry I’ll show you how after we cover the other ways to install addons.

Manually Installing Addons on PC or Mac:

Curse webpage seen on an addon page showing how to installing addons manually is possible on PC or Mac.To manually install addons, first download the addon you need from sites such as Curse.  There are other sites too, but Curse is the only one I know from personal experience as being safe and secure.  Once you have your file downloaded, you’ll have to extract it.  Programs like WinZip or StuffIt may be needed depending on your operating system.

apgaddonman2The folder you extract the file into also depends on where your Warcraft directory is.

apgaddonsman3Here are the default locations for various operating systems:

– Windows XP
C: Program FilesWorld of WarcraftInterfaceAddOns

– Windows Vista or Windows 7
C:UsersPublicGames World of WarcraftInterfaceAddOns

– Mac OSX
[Macintosh Hard Drive]../World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/

Activating your AddOns:
To turn your newly installed addons on and off, log into Warcraft to your character selection screen.

apgactivateIn the bottom left corner click the Addons button.  This should open a menu.

apgactivate2

Here you can choose which addons you want to turn on.

apgactivate3

You can also turn specific addons on for individual characters or you can turn it on for every character on a realm.

apgactivate4

There is also an option to load out of date addons.  This allows addons to work even if they have not been updated to the current patch.

Now that you know how to install addons for World of Warcraft, stay tuned for this week’s short guide for addons that reduce your mouse movements.

World of Warcraft’s Move Pad – Who Knew?

Short shrugging at the thought that move pad was in-game.

Did you know Blizzard added a click to move tool into World of Warcraft to make the game more accessible for disabled gamers? No, you’re not a noob! Many gamers are unaware it even exists and I’ll admit it’s harder to find than a rare [Scourged Whelpling].  Never fear gamers, that’s why I’m here! Let’s find Move Pad:

Short's user interface in search for move pad outfront of Goldshire.

First off open your “Game Menu”

Short's user interface seen clicking "Settings" for move pad.

then chose “Interface”.

Short going into "Interface" in the game menu for move pad.

In the left column chose “Help”,  then check the box beside “Show Move Pad”. Hit “Okay”.

Short seen exiting the in-game menu after enabling move pad. This should open the move pad menu.

Here’s our YouTube video guide if you wish to see it in real time!

Congratulations!

You are now on your way to moving your character around without being forced to constantly hold down your left mouse button or run only in a straight line when using the click to move option. Ahhh, freedom!

How Does Move Pad Work?

It’s really simple! First off you can position the menu anywhere on your screen, so it is in an optimal place for you to use it as well as your other abilities. By pressing the lock button in the lower right hand corner, you can move the menu into position and then relock it to prevent accidentally moving it while it’s in use. Once you get it into the position you want it just click the button on the menu in the direction you wish to go. Pressing up makes your character move forward, pressing the arrow down makes your character walk backwards, and the left and right arrows will make your character strafe from side to side. Once you push a button, your character will continue moving until you press the button again. This means pressing combinations will allow you to run diagonally, or press the jump button while your character is still moving. There is even a jump button in the middle of the menu allowing you to keep your mouse pointer closer to the run button you may have activated.

Practicing Move Pad

I’m not going to lie, it will take practice to get used to the starting and stopping. However, in the end it’s definitely worth it. The move pad allows you to make tricky jumps like the ones found in Naxxramas, Wailing Caverns, or Black Fathom Depths as well as casting and running simultaneously. My only advice for improving it is if Blizzard added the ability to turn your character on this menu as well.

Next time you’re in Azeroth, give it a try! Let us know in the comments what you think about move pad as well as the video, and check out our other Short Guides!
